In 2008, Mrs. Azar, a single mother, conceived the idea of providing her home as a gathering space for women in the Iranian Canadian community. Under the banner of the Circle of Independent Women (CIW), this not-for-profit organization aimed to foster socialization, cultural exchange, and empowerment among women.
As the number of participants grew, Mrs. Azar recognized that her home could no longer accommodate everyone. Consequently, she shifted the gatherings to restaurants, transforming them into celebratory events on special occasions, both Iranian and Canadian. This transition expanded the scope from female-only events to inclusive family gatherings.
In the same year, Mrs. Azar introduced 1-day tours, which quickly gained popularity. These tours provided an opportunity for community members to explore and connect beyond their immediate surroundings. Mrs. Azar’s vision and dedication have undoubtedly left a lasting impact on the community, fostering connections and enriching lives.

Azar Tours has a rich history that began with the Circle of Independent Women (CIW), founded by Mrs. Azar as a welcoming space for Iranian-Canadian women to gather and socialize. Over time, these gatherings evolved into family events, and in 2010, 1-day tours were added, which quickly gained popularity. In 2013, CIW registered as a tours booking service for travel agencies. Building on this foundation, Azar Travel and Tours Inc. was officially incorporated in February 2020 and registered by the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) in August 2020.
